Mr. India 2 will be a 3D film

When Mr India was released back in the mid eighties, the advent of SFX into Bollywood was still a long way off.

But in terms of visual appeal, right from Sridevi’s romantic love song with an invisible man, avenging Hanuman statues and a myriad other thrills, basically camera tricks, it managed to tickle a generation of movie watchers.

And now producer Boney Kapoor, who is readying a sequel (Mr India 2), is going the whole hog - not only has he decided to incorporate the best SFX available today, but he will also shoot the film in 3D.

“I want to take this film to the highest level. 3D would be a terrific experience with this kind of subject. We were toying with the idea for a long time, but finalised things only a few days ago,” reveals Boney.

The sequel will star Anil Kapoor and Sridevi in the lead role (they were last seen together in the 1997 Judaai) while Salman Khan will play the larger than life villain.

Since a lot rides on technology, the budget of the film has shot up to nearly Rs 100 crore. “Yes. That’s true. I am also bringing down foreign technicians to do Salman’s look. He will be seen in a negative role that will be remembered for a long time.

It’s also something he has never been attempted on this scale before. Even for us, it will be a big challenge to project Salman as a negative character,” adds Boney.

The film will also star a young couple. “I have not zeroed in on who it will be, but they could be known faces. I still have to finalise the director. Currently, two writers are busy completing two separate scripts. I will be choosing one of them,” says Boney.

Sonam Kapoor feels shy in front of dad for a Romantic scene

Like a typical daddy’s girl, Sonam Kapoor was all blushes when her father Anil Kapoor showed up on the sets while she was shooting a romantic scene for the film I Hate Luv Storys.

Kapoor senior dropped by to see his daughter at work at the suburban sea-facing lounge where Sonam and co-star Sammir Dattani were ready to shoot a candlelight dinner scene, involving a proposal and a break-up.

However, Sonam was shy of shooting the romantic scene in front of her dad and reportedly asked director Punit Malhotra, with whom she has a budding friendship, to shoot the intimate scene later.

Puneet obliged and shot the solo close-ups on Dattani, while Sonam gave the cues by reading her lines alongside. It was only after Anil Kapoor had left the sets, did she get ready to shoot the romantic scene.

Salman to play superhero in Mr. India 2

Salman Khan is all geared up to play a superhero for the first time in his life in the movie Veer. But, this may not be the last time as Salman could soon be seen playing a superhero in a sequel to Mr. India. Boney Kapoor who produced the 1987 super hit flick wants Salman to play larger than life character in his upcoming sequel. Anil Kapoor who was the original Mr. India will also play a pivotal role in the movie.

Boney Kapoor said that Mr India 2 will rely on the nostalgic value and the curiosity element of the original flick. The invisibility factor and a larger than life villain which were core to the 1987 movie will be retained this time too. Boney is yet to decide on the female lead for the movie. Incidentally his wife Sridevi had starred in the original flick. All we can say is that 'India Khush Hua!'
