Sonam Kapoor follows Katrina Kaif’s footsteps

The recent B-town ladies have become very pricey and choosy when it comes to selecting roles. Like Katrina, bollywood’s new bee Sonam Kapoor too doesn’t approve films having two heroine in it. Recently, Sonam rejected a film with Ranbir Kapoor which has Deepika Padukone playing his love interest.

If recollected, Katrina too had recently declined the most-sought after director Anurag Basu’s Khamoshi which has Ranbir and Priyanka in the lead role.

As far as Ranbir and Deepika’s film is concerned it will showcase Ranbir in a double role where one character will be set in the 1950s background and the other character will be today’s youth.

The title of the film is Mera Jahan which will directed by Vikramjit Singh. Mera Jahan is revolves around a comic book writer played by Ranbir who is lost in his world and his own perceptions of the world.

Sonam Kapoor and Imran Khan's romance gets dirty

It seems that the onscreen romance between the lead pair of the under production movie I Hate Luv Stories, i.e Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor, went for a real toss!

It so happened that the duo was filming a romantic song in New Zealand’s countryside and were supposed to run to each other, and fall into a long embrace. Sonam was then asked to lean on Imran’s arms, reminding the audience of the signature Raj Kapoor-Nargis Dutt pose from the RK movies.

Director Punit Malhotra wasn’t impressed with the first few takes, so he asked Imran and Sonam to lend more grace to the move, which tired out Imran.

However, it ended up being a total disaster as Sonam rushed into his arms and Imran leaned back with a little gush of enthusiasm, thus losing his grip. Both the actors lost their balance and came down with a thud.

To make matters worse, Sonam fell on some cow dung left back by a cattle grazing nearby. Poor Sonam had to immediately rush for a shower. The only saving grace was that the actress’ costume, which got spoilt in the bargain, was not needed in any other shots.

The 24-year-old actress is awaiting the release of ‘Aisha’ and ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ in 2010.

"Guys, I`ve finished filming `Aisha` and `I Hate Luv Storys` and they will be my two releases this year. I am working on three films this year. I am doing `Thank You`, `Mausam` and the third one I can`t talk about," said Sonam.

Thank You cast: Akshay, Sonam, Irrfan, Celina, Bobby and Suniel

The core cast of Anees Bazmi's rom-com Thank You just got bigger. After actor Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Bobby Deol, Irrfan Khan has been added to the cast in a pivotal role.

Suniel Shetty and Celina Jaitely play another couple in the film.

Says Anees, “Suniel and Celina I've worked with them before and enjoyed the experience. But with Irrfan I'm working for the first time. He is perfect for the part of Bobby Deol's boss.”

Irrfan has a crammed year ahead. As soon as he finishes Saat Khoon Maaf he heads for Canada to shoot for Anees Bazmi's Thank You.

Says Irrfan, “Yes, I'm doing Anees' film. I've always wanted to work with Anees Bazmi. It's always advisable to include spicy food in your cuisine. That's why I'm doing Anees' Thank You. The role is perfect. And I get to work with another lovely girl Sonam Kapoor.”

Sonam Kapoor to play Sania Mirza in the romantic comedy film

Tennis champ Sania Mirza is not only in the news for her impending marriage but also for a film based on her life. Sonam Kapoor will play a character strikingly similar to Sania in Anees Bazmee’s rom-com Thank You. The film’s shooting starts mid-April in Canada.

Just like Sania, Sonam plays a young, attractive tennis champ and falls in love with a guy, who is completely wrong for her. She soon realises her mistake and turns back before it’s too late. Remember Sania calling off her engagement to Sohrab Mirza earlier this year before news of her impending marriage to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik started doing the rounds?

Director Anees Bazmee confirms the news and says, “Sonam does pay a tennis champ, and Akshay Kumar plays a guy who’s seeing 30-35 girls at the same time, until he meets Sonam. Though he gives up flirting, he’s not particularly serious about Sonam too. It’s a funny take on courtship.”

Sonam will be trained by a tennis coach in Canada for her role. “Sonam plays a state-level tennis champ in Canada so she cannot afford to look amateurish while playing the game in my film. I don’t expect her to become a tennis champ in a week but she should look like a professional,” adds the director.

When asked about the similarities between Sania Mirza and Sonam’s role Anees Bazmee says, “I wouldn’t like to take any names but any girl playing a tennis player would have similarities to the name you mentioned.”

What he would rather not say is that all the departments of his film including the script, camera and makeup, would be working towards making Sonam look like Sania.

Sonam Kapoor feels shy in front of dad for a Romantic scene

Like a typical daddy’s girl, Sonam Kapoor was all blushes when her father Anil Kapoor showed up on the sets while she was shooting a romantic scene for the film I Hate Luv Storys.

Kapoor senior dropped by to see his daughter at work at the suburban sea-facing lounge where Sonam and co-star Sammir Dattani were ready to shoot a candlelight dinner scene, involving a proposal and a break-up.

However, Sonam was shy of shooting the romantic scene in front of her dad and reportedly asked director Punit Malhotra, with whom she has a budding friendship, to shoot the intimate scene later.

Puneet obliged and shot the solo close-ups on Dattani, while Sonam gave the cues by reading her lines alongside. It was only after Anil Kapoor had left the sets, did she get ready to shoot the romantic scene.

Sonam Kapoor replaces Katrina as face of Spice Mobiles

She is the daughter of the ageless wonder and touted as the chip of the old block. She is none other than Sonam Kapoor, the darling daughter of Anil Kapoor. After having made an impactful debut with Sanjay Leela Bansali's Saawariyaa, Sonam now seems all set to take the world of ad commercials by super storm!

After having lent her famous smile to FMCGs like L'Oreal, Mont Blanc, etc, now, Sonam will be seen in a new avatar as the Brand Ambassador for Spice Mobiles. Sources say, "The parent company of Spice Mobiles (B.K Modi Group), is now all set to launch a high quality phone (S-1200, to be precise), that will have a whopping 12 Mega pixel camera with 3 X optical zoom!

The source also adds that since they are all gung-ho about this product, they were looking for someone who can effortlessly carry the brand on her shoulders, and needles to say that Sonam Kapoor fitted the bill like a 'T'. That's why they signed her on immediately!"

With this endorsement, the ad world sees yet another shuffling of brand ambassadors as Sonam replaces Katrina as face of Spice Mobiles.

Sonam replaces Katrina in Thank You

Sonam Kapoor is all set to say 'Thank You' to Anees Bazmee after her offered her a role in his next movie opposite Akshay Kumar. Anees had earlier cast Katrina Kaif in the movie but she pulled out of it after an initial not. Anees then approached Sonam's father Anil Kapoor for her date and Sonam has been roped in. Anees has worked with Anil in No Entry and No Problem and says Anil and Sonam are like family to him.

There were rumours that Katrina Kaif wasn't too interested in Farah Khan and her hubby Shirish Kunder's Tees Maar Khan either and Sonam was approached for that role too. Farah however could not convince Sonam for the role and Katrina was finalised for the movie. Incidentally even Tees Maar Khan has Akshay Kumar playing the lead. Sonam has impressed many with Bollywood with her performance in the movie Delhi 6.

Sonam Kapoor to have fun with Akshay Kumar

Sonam Kapoor is all set to venture into the genre of comedy. The talented actress has been roped in by Anees Bazmee’s for his next film. The film is titled Thank You and Sonam will be sharing the screen space with Akshay Kumar who was recently announced to be part of the film.

Sonam Kapoor confirms excitedly, “I have signed a film titled Thank You which will be directed by Anees Bazmee. I am being paired opposite Akshay Kumar. Thank You is being produced by UTV.”

Sonam has already proved her acting prowess in Saawariya and Delhi 6 although both the movies didn’t do well at the box-office. So, it will be interesting to see her in a comic-role. And considering the series of hits like Welcome and Singh Is Kinng in Anees’s kitty, Miss Kapoor must be really assured of success this time.

Wotsay Sonam?

Shahid Kapoor finally finds a girl

What took Pankaj Kapoor so long to find a girl for his son Shahid Kapoor? He was looking for someone special and auditioned a number of celebrity daughters but finally pinned down on Anil Kapoor's daughter Sonam Kapoor.

Interestingly, Pankaj Kapoor auditioned the likes of Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter Sonakshi, Govinda’s daughter Narmada and Alyque Padamsee’s daughter Shazahn but finally decided to cast Sonam in Mausam.

It is said that everyone involved with the film including the producers Sheetal Talwar and Madhu Mantena are happy with the inclusion of Sonam. Pankaj’s wife Supriya Pathak is said to be exited because she had great time working with the young actress in Delhi 6.

It maybe recalled that the media speculated the reunion of Jab We Met pair Shahid and Kareena Kapoor in Mausam. It was later declared that the makers of the film would go on a nationwide hunt to find Shahid's heroine but they chose Sonam, that too without auditioning.
