Badmaash Company full Boxoffice Collection

After Housefull opened to an excellent start last week, it was the turn of Badmaash Company to open to a heartening start at the box-office. Shahid Kapoor's last major release Chance Pe Dance (not counting Paathshaala) had fetched a below average start, so it was imperative that Badmaash Company fetch a good start at the ticket window. The opening numbers of Badmaash Company were an impressive 80% to 90% at places, while at places it ranged from 45% to 75%, which only improved towards the evening shows.

Badmaash Company grossed a decent 13.50 crore nett over its first weekend. The film did around 5 crore nett in Mumbai and around 3 crore nett in Delhi/UP. East Punjab added another 1 crore nett approx. The business on saturday and Sunday was better than Friday but jump was not huge.

The first week is looking to finish in the 19-21 crore nett depending on the how well the weekdays perform. The film will earn for its makers as costs are not very high and revenue from all sources will probably go near 30 crore.

The theatrical performance will should also be decent as the film does not have much competition next week and this should allow the film to hit the 30 crore nett lifetime mark.

Akshay Kumar's Housefull Box Office Collection (Record)

Housefull has taken an excellent start this morning over its first few shows. Multiplexes have seen excellent collections all over while single screens are also very good. The best collections have come in the North with Delhi city and East Punjab multiplexes being fantastic and Rajasthan and CI also performing superbly.

Some single screens in CP Berar had a slower start but multiplexes were good in the circuit. Hyderabad also suffered a bit as the city had a few bomb scare stories.

Overall the opening is big as was expected and bought relief all around after the dull period. The weekend should emerge with huge collections as Saturday is a holiday which will further boost the film.
Housefull Gives Akshay Kumar His Biggest Opening Ever

Akshay Kumar has his biggest opening ever in the form of Housefull. The early estimates also suggest the second biggest first day in the history of Hindi cinema. Based on very early estimates the first day business of Housefull is around the 10 crore nett region. This easily smashes the 7.25 crore nett for Singh is Kinng and 7.50 crore nett for Kambakkht Ishq which were the biggest first day openers of Akshay Kumar.

Housefull is looking to settle behind the record 13 crore nett of Three Idiots as the second biggest first day in the history of Hindi cinema but it has to be noted that the Three Idiots record was achieved on Christmas Day holiday which is regarded as the biggest day of the year for box office collections in India today. This makes Housefull the biggest non holiday opening day in the history of Hindi cinema.

Aishwarya Rai spakes about her role in 'Raavan'

"I understand a bit of Tamil and speak a bit of it. For me, it is very important that I understand the meaning of my dialogues before I deliver them. I can't just mug up the dialogues. Bipasha Basu may starr in Dhamaal Sequel Movie

Remember the comedy hit Dhamaal which released in 2007 starring Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Ritesh Deshmukh, Javed Jaffery and Ashish Chowdhary. In the movie there no any female actress only men leading movie.

When Dhamaal Squeal movie is announced by producer Ashok Thakeria and director Indra Kumar is said that in the also wouldn’t have any heroines. But now suddenly planned has changed three months before shooting is to start, two heroines have been added to the project.

It is rummer that actually, the girls were added on the insistence of Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi. Dhamaal also starred Ritesh Deshmukh, Javed Jaffery, Ashish Chowdhary and one of the lead actresses is Bipasha Basu another yet not decided.

Paathshaala and Phoonk 2 box office results

Shahid Kapoor-starrer 'Paathshaala' and Ram Gopal Varma's 'Phoonk 2' have failed to set the ticket windows buzzing. While the former got an average initial footfall thanks to Shahid's presence, the horror seems to have fallen flat.

The lukewarm response from audiences comes despite round-the-clock promotional activities for both the movies. While Shahid visited various schools to promote 'Paathshaala', Varma organised a digitally monitored scare dare contest for anyone who would watch 'Phoonk 2' alone in the movie hall - but in vain.

"The content for both the movies has been average. While 'Paathshaala' was good with around 50 percent occupancy over the weekend, 'Phoonk 2' wasn't that good enough with just 20 percent footfalls," Amit Awasthi, manager (programming and operations) of Spice Cinemas, told us.

"It was only Shahid Kapoor's presence that brought in the initial footfalls for 'Paathshaala," he added.

Amit Shah, chief manager (programming) of DLF DT cinemas, also had something similar to say.

" 'Paathshaala' was an ok affair and brought in on an average 35 percent footfalls while 'Phoonk 2' has been disappointing with only 15 percent occupancy. The movie did not meet our expectations despite its hype," said Shah.

The debut production of choreographer Ahmad Khan, 'Paathshaala' is the directorial debut of Milind Ukey. Revolving around the commercialization and unethical practices related to the education system in the country, it also stars Nana Patekar, Suniel Shetty and Ayesha Takia.

Popular child actors Swini Khare, Ali Haji, Dwij Yadav and Avika Gor play pivotal roles in the movie.

'Phoonk 2', on the other hand, is a sequel to Varma's earlier film "Phoonk - The Black Magic Story". It has been written and directed by debutant Milind Gadagkar.

Actors Sudeep, Amruta Khanvilkar and child actor Ahsaas Channa play key roles in the movie that captures the fears of a family hostage to a spirit seeking revenge.

"Both movies have nothing much in terms of business. There's no content in them," said Tusshar Dhingra, COO of Big Cinemas.

Added a source from PVR cinemas: "Both movies have been average but 'Paathshaala' is better in comparison to 'Phoonk 2'. While the former got close to 30 percent footfalls, the latter got close to only 20 percent occupancy. The business for both, however, is almost over."

Said Yogesh Raizada, corporate head (cinemas) of Wave Cinemas: "The weekend was average, as the movies have been average. While 'Paathshaala' brought in around 40 percent occupancy, 'Phoonk 2' has been close to only 30 percent."

Hitesh challenge to see the Phoonk 2 alone in the theater

Ram Gopal Varma's much awaited Phoonk 2 is releasing today. Phoonk 2 has already been in the headlines as the director claimed it to be much more scarier than the earlier Phoonk. A contest kinda was hosted by the director claiming that anybody who dared to watch Phoonk 2 alone without getting scared will be awarded Rs 5,00,000.

Five bravehearts were selected for the show from different parts of India. And the lucky draw fell for Hitesh Sharma from Mumbai to do the dare task. But unfortunately Hitesh couldn't withstand the scary scenes in the film.

He was made to see the movie alone in the theater and his heartbeats were monitored from in a screen outside the hall. After 45 minutes of the film Hitesh just took away his face from the screen and said that he could not take any more.

RGV said that he is very happy that they have won the challenge. Directed by debutant Milind Gadagkar, Phoonk 2, releasing today, is a sequel to Phoonk which was directed by Ram Gopal Varma.

Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan together in Telugu Remake Magadheer

These are two of the names being seriously considered for the Hindi remake of the Telugu Blockbuster film Magadheera directed by S.S Rajamouli. Released in July last year, the film grossed over Rs. 65 crores in India alone and is said to be the second-biggest Telugu hit after Ghajini which holds the record for being the biggest hit ever in Telugu films.

With this Telugu remake into Hindi that is expected to take off early next year, producers Allu Arvind and Madhu Mantena who also co-produced Ghajini in both Telugu and Hindi, hope to raise the bars for action-drama cinema in Hindi once again.

The remake, to be budgeted at Rs. 70 crores, is deeply ambitious. The Hindi version of Magadheera is expected to star Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan.

While in the original Telugu film which is set in 17th century and in today’s times, the hero Ram Charan Teja plays a double role, the remake, it is reliably learnt, will split the hero’s personality into two parts. Apparently, Hrithik will play the 17th century Samurai while Aamir will play his present-day avatar.

Says Madhu Mantena, “Yes. Allu Arvind and I are remaking Magadheera in Hindi. As for the cast, it’s too early to talk about it. But Magadheera is definitely planned to be bigger than Ghajini.”

John Abraham, Saif and Anil Kapoor in Race 2

Some names are dropped from the Race sequel and some new names are added to it. The name that requires special mention is stylish John Abraham. Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor will remain in Race 2 but Akshaye Khanna and Katrina Kaif has been dropped.

Race 2 is said to be more exciting and stylish than the original. John has read the script and liked his part very much. He has given his ok for the film. A source reveals, “John read the script and really liked it. After Dhoom, this is the second script he liked in just one sitting. The character he’s playing is not only flamboyant but also has a huge collection of imported cars and bikes. Everyone knows that John is an avid bike rider.”

Speaking about his look in the film, a source said, “His look is extremely sexy and sophisticated. The film also has lot of stunts, car chases and some deep-sea diving scenes. They still are location hunting to figure out where to base the film.”

When contacted, Ramesh Taurani said, “The script is being finalised and we have only cast Saif and Anil Kapoor till now.”

Kunal Kapoor to play superhero role in Anurag Kashyap's next

Kapoor will now be playing a comic superhero in his next film. It will be an adaptation of Raj Comics super hero book ‘Doga’ and will be directed by the talented Anurag Kashyap.

Bipash and John in 3D Sequel Jism Film

Producer and director Pooja Bhatt excited about the 3D Sequel of her seven years old film Jism. The film does not only mark the explicit love-making scene but also for the reason that it will be in 3D format. The idea of making a first ever 3D adult film crossed Mahesh Bhatt’s mind while he was watching love-scene in James Cameron’s film Avatar.

Incidentally, it is the first adult Bollywood film to be shot in 3D. Jism 2 will deal with the subject of betrayal and suspense. The heroine will be shown as a very modern girl with a dark, tainted past. Bipash Basu and John Abraham shared silver screen first time in this film.

It is not yet clear about who will star in Jism 2 but the team is looking for talented girl with a great body to pull off Jism 2 and two male actors too. The cast will be a combination of fresh and established stars. As of now Pooja is writing the script.Sources

Asin opposite John Abraham in Khakha Khakha remake

Bollywood actress Asin is said to be the female lead opposite actor John Abraham in the Hindi remake of Tamil director Gautham Menon's super hit film Kaakha Kaakha.

The shooting of this Hindi remake is will begin in May, as Nishikant Kamath will be the director. Gautam Menon was previously expected to direct the Hindi version, but he dropped out from the project due to unknown reasons.

"Although Genelia was considered for the remake, they dropped the idea as John had already worked with Genelia in ‘Hook Ya Crook’ and they wanted a fresh pairing. Asin has already worked with Vipul Shah in ‘London Dreams’ so they decided to sign her,” said a source

“The film is important for John at this stage of his career as his last three films ‘Ashayein,’ ‘Hook Ya Crook’ and Abbas Tyrewala’s next film have been put on hold for various reasons,” the source added.

Sanjay Gupta to remake Avatar movie in Hindi

After the massive success of James Cameron's latest offing, 'Avatar', several Bollywood producers/directors are desperately trying to buy the remake rights. The Bhatt brothers (Mahesh & Mukesh), Boney Kapoor, Subhash Ghai are camping in LA, but finally after a week of long negotiations, we hear, our very own copy cat Sanjay ‘DVD’ Gupta has successfully managed to crack the exclusive deal for the remake of ‘Avatar’.

We were lucky to get a first hand quote from the great, media shy Sanjay Gupta himself... He bawled on the phone from LA, "Principally the deal is done. I am yet to sign on the dotted line, Cameron Sahab is busy promoting his films. He is visiting Mc Donalds, CCD, Pizza Hut and several such places to promote his film. I hope to sign the deal in the next 10-12 days." Our Hollywood reporter, ChiefBrutus managed to sneak in more questions to a busy Gupta… Over to the man himself…

Sanjay G, will you be modifying the story to suit the Indian audience?

"Ofcoz, I will have to... But that will take sometime. I have already thought of the story. I am waiting for the DVD launch to happen. Only then my screenplay writing will start.

Can you tell us something about this movie… The Hindi version?

Sure I will, but wait for the DVD release of the film. Mine will be an original film.

Have you decided on the director for this magnum opus?

Ofcoz, I, myself will direct this film. Only I can do justice to it. Once the original DVD is out in market, directing this will not be tough.

Have you finalized the cast for 'Avatar in Hindi'?

Yes I have. But will reveal it at the right time.

Will you please share more details?

I am so sorry. It’s too early to talk about this at this moment. But I will surely call for a press conference and announce the cast.

Will it be called ‘Avatar in Hindi’?

No, Avatar in Hindi is just a working title. I have code named the film Project 776. I have two brilliant titles to decide from… First, ‘Sanjay Gupta's Avtaar’ and second ‘Avtaar - The Mask’. It's a tough decision.

We are sure you must be having someone in mind for this film...Can you atleast tell us who have you thought of?

Hmm... tricky one.. you guys are impossible... anyways. I will give you more information. But PLEASE… DON'T write anything about this till my film goes on floor. This is just and just for your ears only. Make sure no one is around you (whispers on the phone).

Ok.. before I begin, I have to tell you. I always wanted to make a sequel of Rajesh Khannaji's film Avtaar. I wanted to feature Avtaar Gill in the lead. But somehow, it didn't work out with Avtaar Gill Ji... He refused to wear a wig. So I had no choice but to shelve the project.

I will start my film with 43 slides, thanking all 23 media partners and 20 banks who are ready to finance me. This movie will be the costliest movie ever made in Bollywood. My film ‘Avatar in Hindi’ will start where the old Avtaar (1983) ended. Avtaar Krishen is a happy man now. He divorced his wife Radha and has married Kaushalya. He lives in his farm house with Kaushalya and her two sons. (Kaushalya is a divorcee... She had to divorce her husband as he had very bad gas problem)

One day Avtaar Krishen is happily ploughing his farm using his tractor… Now here I will show the beauty of Indian Khets (farms) and the opening song. The title credits will roll with the song. When the song ends the tractor stops. Avtaar is confused... why has his tractor stopped? He gets down and tries to push it and attempts to jumpstart the tractor. But the tractor is too heavy to be pushed... without realizing this he pushes it with full strength (background loud music) and he gets a heart attack. He collapses in the khet.

Cut to inside Avtaar Krishen's residence. Kaushalya is busy watching Bigg Boss and is sipping Nescafe (I have provided ample branding scope). Ramu Kaka enters and informs Kaushalya about Avtaar Krishen ji's death. Camera pans on Kaushalya and...... NAHIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNN YEH NNYAAII NAHIII HAI!

Kaushalya has a tough life ahead. She has to raise her two sons, Anmol and Ratan all by herself. She starts dancing in dance bars. at this point, there is an item number by Rakhi Sawant.

Cut to 20 years later.... Anmol and Ratan are two strong, young and dashing hunks. And here I break the suspense credit rolls … reintroducing Aftab Shivdasani (Anmol)… Dino Morea (Ratan) who return from work, eager to meet their mom and give her their pehli kamaai...

When they are about to enter their house, there is a mad dog waiting outside. He pounces and bites Anmol very badly. Ratan pelts stones and scares away the dog and lifts his brother and rushes inside. Doctor comes and says Anmol is bitten by a very dangerous, mad dog and he will need 14 injections. Unfortunately Kaushalya has money that can buy only 13 injections. Anmol dies, just because Kaushalya couldn't afford the 14th injection.

After a month long research finally Ratan gets to know the whereabouts of the mad dog. The dog is from a place called 'Dhindora'. This place has only dogs. These dogs are made up of Human and Dog DNA. Dhindora is 17 kms ahead of Vasai. He promises Kaushalya that he will go to 'Dhindora' live with DOGS and learn their language and avenge 'Anmol's death. Ratan hires a dog outfit and reaches Dhindora. There he finds the beautiful (Dia Mirza, in bitch dress) and instantly falls in love with her.

Dia agrees to teach the Dog Ratan everything about their dog community. (Vindu is also a part of the Dhindora tribe.. My makeup artist said he doesn't require any makeup. And he has placed an order for 221 pairs of white contact lenses for the Dhindora dogs. Ramsay Bros, one of our media partners will be providing us with the same).

So the story is a simple love story but will be told brilliantly. The film will go on floors post JC's Avatar's DVD release. And… Please... don't ask me any more questions. I can't reveal anything further, it’s classified.

Bollywood Sequels Race 2, Dhoom 3, Wanted 2, Partner 2, and Don 2 Releasing on

Next year, 2011, is going to be the year of sequels in Bollywood with as many as five blockbusters getting ready with the next instalment of their stories -- “Race 2”, “Dhoom 3”, “Wanted 2”, “Partner 2” and “Don 2”.

Like the 2008 hit action “Race”, “Race 2” is also directed by Abbas-Mustan and produced under the Tips Films banner. The original, which explored themes of sibling rivalry, betrayal and passion, starred Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif in pivotal roles.

Except Bipasha Basu, the directors plan to retain the same cast for the sequel. It was reported that Bipasha would be replaced by another actress, although nothing is official at the moment.

The other sequel in the works is “Partner 2”. The original starring Govinda, Salman Khan, Katrina and Lara Dutta released in 2007.

“Partner 2” was supposed to release this year, but the shooting dates got postponed till 2011. The sequel will retain its original cast.

Boney Kapoor, producer of the Salman Khan-starrer “Wanted”, is also planning to launch the film’s second part next year.

“Wanted”, a remake of Telugu film “Pokiri”, was directed by southern dancing star Prabhu Deva and also starred Ayesha Takia.

The third instalment of action film “Dhoom” will also make an appearance next year. While “Dhoom” released in 2004, “Dhoom 2” hit screens in 2006. Now, after a gap of five years, “Dhoom 3” is expected to release in 2011.

It was reported that Aditya Chopra will himself direct “Dhoom 3”, which will have some alterations in the star cast.

Later in the year releases “Don 2”, a sequel to Farhan Akhtar’s remake of the 1978 film “Don” (2006).

The crime thriller, directed, co-written and co-produced by Farhan Akhtar, will star Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal, Ishaa Koppikar, Boman Irani and Om Puri all reprising their roles from the previous film.

Going by the list, it seems that audiences will have only sequels to choose from the plate in 2011.

Pakistan bans release of Bollywood film 'Lahore'

The award winning bollywood film 'Lahore' has been denied release in Pakistan as the country alleged that the movie portrayed Pakistan in a negative light, media reports said.

However, the producer of the film said that the film in fact promotes peace between the two countries.

"Our film doesn't have anything negative about Pakistan. The name of our film has been misjudged by the authorities. It is called Lahore because the climax of our film is set in Lahore, and we have no intentions of hurting anyone's sentiments," movie's producer Vivek Khatkar said in a news agency report.

The film which is scheduled for a worldwide release on Mar 19 has won many international awards, including the best actor award for newcomer Anaahad at Tenerife International Film Festival(UK) and Salento International Film Festival, Italy .

A major portion of the film has been shot in Pakistan.

Upset at the ban, its director Sanjay Puransingh Chauhan said that the movie which revolves around the sport of kick-boxing speaks about peace as the tagline 'Beyond borders, between Nations lies a battle to end all wars', implies.

"The very idea of the film was to break the cliched image we have of our neighbouring country," said Chauhan.

"I am quite surprised and hurt but only hoping that we can release our film in Pakistan, because I want everyone to see this film around the globe," said Khatkar.

The ban on release of a 'Lahore' come as surprise, as Pakistanis are believed to be an ardent lover of bollywood films.

Earlier the court dismissed a petition to ban Indian films in Pakistan after the Pakistani cricket players were snubbed in the auction of Indian Premier League season 3.

Bollywood's boldest sex scene ever?

All-out sex scene in Love, Sex Aur Dhokha may be the most shocking scene in a commercial hindi film yet

Ekta Kapoor's next release, Love Sex Aur Dhokha -- directed by Dibakar Banerjee -- is a path-breaking film in many ways. It's meant to shock and outrage. And though the film transmits that in every thread, the most scandalous part of the film is the sex scene between two actors.

The scene comes in the second story Paap Ki Dukaan. It is the most shocking scene to be ever filmed in a commercial Hindi film. Never before have two protagonists stripped down completely. But the nudity in the scene is not even remotely aimed to titillate. If anything, it is gag-inducing, guaranteed to repel you. Like the rape scene filmed on Monica Bellucci in Irreversible.


Dibakar Banerjee isn't happy, "I would like to state on record that I am not comfortable about the picture coming out. I want the scene to be judged as part of the film. To use the picture out of context will be damaging to the film. The idea is not to draw vicarious pleasure from it. The scene comes after you have lived with the character for 30 minutes.

The story makes you live through the dilemma of the character and how they realise that they have done something they can never undo. It's tragic. I would advise the people who go to watch the film to not go for the nude scene as they will not get what they want."

Ekta Kapoor, Producer, echoes her director's thoughts, "The purpose of the nude scene is not to titillate. The scene is part of a story that deals with a MMS scandal and establishes loss of face and faith after the act. The scene is so stark and shot so realistically that at the end of the story, women will feel upset, men scared. When you love someone, you are uninhibited but when that person takes advantage of that, it's disgusting!"

Hrithik Roshan lets out Kites' secret

If you ask any Indian living abroad on their most anticipated film, you'd probably hear any of the 'Khan' releases. It could've been Veer, 3 Idiots, Kurbaan or My Name Is Khan. All these films had one thing in common - 'Khan's'. Come May 21, things might change yet again. There will be an uproar, there will be new marketing strategies involved, there will be a revolutionary change in Indian cinema, there will be a time when the 'Khan's' may well have to take a back seat because the old player will rise yet again to remind them that 'he' exists. Producer of Kites, Rakesh Roshan says, "We are very excited about the release of Kites in the overseas, especially in the UK. Priyanka Chopra set to marry 7 men

Former Miss World turned actress Priyanka Chopra is all set to tie the knot, of course only in reel life. The news is doing the rounds that she would play a woman who marries seven men, all of whom get killed, in her next film titled Ek Batta Saat by Vishal Bhardwaj.

Actors like John Abraham, Arshad Warsi, Mohan Lal and Naseeruddin Shah have given the nod whereas Emraan Hashmi backed out due to his film with Mohit Suri. It is said that Vishal is planning to pick the rest of the cast from the relatively unknown names.

First look of Hrithik's Kites to hit the screens

Now the release date of the much-awaited film Kites, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori in the lead role, has been announced. It is scheduled for release on May 21. The Kites trailer (Hindi version) will hit 1,700 screens tomorrow (Feb.12) while the English trailer will hit 1,000 screens a little later.

Sanjeev Lamba, CEO of Reliance BIG Pictures said that they believe Indian films and artistes could enjoy the same kind of success and recognition internationally as in India. He added that they are proud to present the first look of Kites to the public.

Kites, directed by Anurag Basu, is all about the thrilling journey of two lovers and betrayal betrayal. It also features actors like Kangana Ranaut, Kabir Bedi and Nick Brown in various important roles.

Lyricist cum director Javed Akhtar might have just done the impossible of casting Aishwarya Bachchan and Salman Khan for his upcoming movie. Tentatively titled Ajab Hai Ishq, Javed has already cast Salman will be playing the lead role. There is buzz around the B-Town that Javed is trying to rope in Aishwarya to star opposite Salman in the loves story.

Salman and Aishwarya had starred together only once in their career in Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. The movie which was shot when Salman and Aishwarya were going around with each other went on to become one of the biggest hits of their career.
