Katrina finally accepts Salman Khan's presence in her life

Katrina Kaif, who usually remains tight-lipped about her relationship with actor Salman Khan, says the star always guided her and genuinely believed she would join the big league in Bollywood one day.

"Salman had been always there, more than anything to guide because I didn't know anything about the industry. What would remain special in my mind is that from the very beginning Salman told me that I will achieve this success in the industry. And at that point it was too far off," Katrina told in an interview.

"That time I couldn't see myself one movie ahead, forget 15 movies ahead. I think that he believed it genuinely," the 25 -year-old actor said.

She entered Bollywood in 2003 with the dud "Boom". Her first big hit was 2005 romantic comedy "Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya" in which she teamed up with Salman. After that she gave a string of hits, including "Namastey London", "Partner", "Welcome", "Singh Is Kinng" and critically acclaimed "New York".

But Katrina feels nobody can plan success.

"It's (success) destiny, no one can plan it. There are many people who are connected with the industry because of their father, mother or other family members; still they are not able to achieve what is termed as success in the industry.

"You can come here, make two or three films, your co-stars could be your friends - all this you can plan but you can't plan which film would be successful. The miracle that happened with my life has been the success of my films. Because, had those films not been successful, no one would have done anything for me," said Katrina.

She is now eager to take more responsibilities and do more diverse roles like the one she is doing in Prakash Jha's "Raajneeti', where she plays a politician.

"Till now I have done a genre of films. People have accepted me, loved me and have given me so much support. I never imagined getting so much. But I feel that there are other types of films to do. See other contemporary actors, they have done much more diverse roles.

"People can say that the success ratio of my films has been very, very good, but I still feel people should see me on other kinds of films too...

"May be something like a remake of 'Sita Aur Gita'...In 'Raajneeti', I have more responsibility. But you will have to remember that there I am with six very important guys, all have very important roles," said Katrina.

The actress maintains she always wanted to do something unusual in life.

"I always used to make a world in my head and live in that. I always wanted to be something unusual. Some of the dreams I remember, they may sound stupid - I wanted to be a firefighter, I wanted to be a stunt woman, I wanted to go to NASA. Acting was something to fancy," said Katrina.

The story of three spoilt rich wayward dudes blundering through Bihar in a nightmarish vacation is described by Salman's replacement Ruslaan as “a Dil Chahta Hai meets Rang De Basanti in Bihar... yes, we're going to shoot the film completely on location in Bihar."

Regarding Ruslaan replacing Salman, the younger actor says, "After Salmanbhai suggested that he take a younger actor for his role, the young director Abhishek Dogra changed the script."

Earlier he had planned to sign Salman and two other actors from that generation. Now it's 3 young actors Sharman, Jackky and Ruslaan.

"I've always modelled my physique on Salman, so it feels good," says Ruslaan.

Katrina Kaif's Interview

Katrina Kaif surely has proved her acting caliber on the silver screen. From her first film Boom to Raajneeti, she has experimented with her look, performances and above all she has improved dancing as well as her speech skills too.

Undoubtedly, the directors and the producers have broken the myth that she is just a glam doll. The credit nonetheless goes to Prakash Jha for his film Raajneeti in which Kats has taken the trouble of dubbing the dialogues in pure Hindi.

So how was it working with Prakash Jha, who believes in hard-hitting subjects with purely Hindi dialogues?
Yes! It was not difficult for me. I can mug up ten pages at a stretch. I have an accent problem but I’ve tried to manage it well. In fact, when I sat down to surf some of the real characters from the political arena; I thought that in the quest of getting into some real political character, I was going wrong. Hence I decided to follow my reel character only.

As a modern contemporary youth, I have tried to get the body language of Priyanka Gandhi. But by no means can you compare my reel character to any living political characters. You guys are just comparing me to Sonia Gandhi because I too belong to an English mother, with fair skin and black hair which is not really so.

You came into this industry fresh, who do you give credit to as your Godfather?
Ya! I am not one belonging to the Bollywood industry. Everyone has a Godfather. I have not one but many Godfathers who may have helped me attain the kind of success I have achieved in this short span of my career. Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar have definitely helped me get to the horizon. I would also credit the blessings showered upon me by the almighty God which is why I have been able to achieve success.

It’s the survival of the fittest. And you are on the top of the female lead stars. How do you feel about it?
I feel good to be topping the list. If this comparison brings me on the top of the list why will I not like ranking. Human tendency is such that we love to be number one. Why will I not like the number game? But there ought to be a fair competition. We need not pursue wrong ways to just boost up our career. Our work needs to speak more than our action/words. If you say I’m topping the list in the number one game then I really feel elated.

Is it true that you are essaying Madhubala’s character in the biopic on Kishore Kumar?
I am open to doing good films. Being in the profession I need to know the script, if it is going to work or not. Yes! I do discuss it with my close people but the final decision rests with me. I am in the process of sorting out the details with UTV Productions. Nothing has been finalized as yet. I feel the media is in a bit of a hurry to publish news even before confirming it, which was not the case earlier.

What profession would you have pursued if you weren’t a part of the Bollywood industry?
I have always been a day dreamer. Probably because I had a sense of insecurity as we have been wanderers. We never were stationed in one place. I always loved to be a fire-fighter also performing stunts would always fancy me. I love to live in a castle built world.

You seem to be very excited about working with Hrithik, is it true?
Yes! I’m very excited about working with Hrithik tentatively in a movie titled Zindagi Mile Na Dobara. This film is surely going to be a path-breaking and a youthful film. I am sure it will be a brilliant film. My role is that of a free spirited girl. I'm really looking forward to work with Hrithik Roshan. Although it is a difficult character but I will surely be able to perform to the best of my ability.

How do you manage to stay in such a great shape?
I hate doing regular gym. I feel good exercise twice or thrice a week only. I remember how my trainer of Tees Maar Khan made me do rigorous exercises. But now I just tell him to schedule it only twice a week. I believe in maintaining a proper diet. I maintain myself by following the right kind of lifestyle.

Salman believed in me says Katrina Kaif

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, who is all set to make a splash in her upcoming flim Raajneeti, says her mentor-turned-boyfriend Salman Khan was always sure of her doing well and making a mark for herself in the tinsel town.

"Apart from guiding me, Salman had confidence in me. He is not the person to say that because he is friendly with you. He will say it genuinely," said Katrina.

The 25-year-old actress feels that it was her destiny that she came into the Hindi film industry and succeeded. She has many people to thank for her soaring career here.

"There are too many people whom I can call my godfather. I am grateful and indebted to them. Even Akshay Kumar took a risk in working with me initially," she said. "He did not know me at all. He was at crossroads of his career. When he did Namastey London, people thought he had gone insane.

Nobody is going to damage or destroy himself to help somebody else. Salman believed in me and that is my good fortune and destiny," she said.

Katrina says the fact that her earlier films did well at the box office was a "miracle", helping her weave the success story. "Had those films failed, nobody could have done anything for me. I don't think I would have got a second chance if the movies bombed," she said.

Mr. India 2 will be a 3D film

When Mr India was released back in the mid eighties, the advent of SFX into Bollywood was still a long way off.

But in terms of visual appeal, right from Sridevi’s romantic love song with an invisible man, avenging Hanuman statues and a myriad other thrills, basically camera tricks, it managed to tickle a generation of movie watchers.

And now producer Boney Kapoor, who is readying a sequel (Mr India 2), is going the whole hog - not only has he decided to incorporate the best SFX available today, but he will also shoot the film in 3D.

“I want to take this film to the highest level. 3D would be a terrific experience with this kind of subject. We were toying with the idea for a long time, but finalised things only a few days ago,” reveals Boney.

The sequel will star Anil Kapoor and Sridevi in the lead role (they were last seen together in the 1997 Judaai) while Salman Khan will play the larger than life villain.

Since a lot rides on technology, the budget of the film has shot up to nearly Rs 100 crore. “Yes. That’s true. I am also bringing down foreign technicians to do Salman’s look. He will be seen in a negative role that will be remembered for a long time.

It’s also something he has never been attempted on this scale before. Even for us, it will be a big challenge to project Salman as a negative character,” adds Boney.

The film will also star a young couple. “I have not zeroed in on who it will be, but they could be known faces. I still have to finalise the director. Currently, two writers are busy completing two separate scripts. I will be choosing one of them,” says Boney.

Salman Khan told he will not work in Abhishek's film

Among the brigade of all of Bollywood’s 40-something actors, Salman Khan is being the honest one. He is no longer afraid to admit that he is too old to play a young boy. Ahmed Khan’s assistant, Abhishek Dogra approached him with a film offer and was politely turned down as Salman felt he was a little old for the role.

Abhishek narrated the story of his film to Salman at his residence at Galaxy Apartments in a one-and-a-half-hour long meeting. After Abhishek was done narrating the story to Salman, the latter asked him to cast a younger actor for the role.

According to sources, Salman’s rejection of the role may have something to do with the fact that it was a three-hero project and Salman didn’t appreciate the idea of sharing screen space with two other actors.

Though he didn’t take on the offer, Salman suggested that the ending of the script could be a little different and even gave his ideas. Abhishek agreed that Salman’s idea would make for a better climax and he is adding that to his script.

Abhishek sincerely hopes he can work with Salman sometime in future, despite having just lost out on a chance to do so. He is very thankful to the actor for his suggestions to the script.

Bollywood celebrities fitness secrets

Bollywood celebrities share their fitness tips

Kangna Ranaut:

My fitness secret is my regular and disciplined yoga practice. Though I go to the gym and follow a good diet, it is yoga that helps me stay fit. It creates strength in the body, provides flexibility and also strengthens the mind. Over the years, I have had an erratic schedule of shoots, outdoors etc. In spite of that I find time to do an hour of yoga everyday no matter where I am. This discipline is the only way to ensure you stay fit.

Raima Sen:

For me health and happiness go hand in hand! I’m healthiest at my happiest and vice versa. But I believe that there are some essentials in terms of health that cannot be ignored. For instance, sunshine! I may not be the proverbial early riser but as and when I can, I try and soak up some Vitamin D. At the risk of sounding cliché, I think it is also extremely important to drink loads of water throughout the day. It makes sense to keep away from deep-fried food, carbonated drinks and excess sweets. Finally, fish is what keeps my skin glowing and my hair glossy.

Neha Dhupia:

Fitness is a way of life for me. Working out and excercising not only serves as way of staying fit but also helps you focus on yourself and channelise your thoughts. I don’t stick to just going to the gym, but play a sport, do yoga and swim. We should also try to workout more outdoors because it serves as a break from our indoor city-driven life.

Nandana Sen:
To be truly fit we need to feel good about ourselves — be emotionally, physically, and spiritually healthy! It’s also important to choose a recreational activity you enjoy. I adore bicycle rides and long walks on the beach. If I’m near a pool or lake, I go swimming. If I’m near a mountain, I go hiking. If I’m in a party town, I go dancing! And I feel fitter than ever if I get eight hours of sleep and eight glasses of water.

Sameera Reddy:
I drink loads of water. Every one hour I either have water or a glass of fresh juice. I don’t like too much of work outs in summers but I take a 45-minute walk and start my day with yoga to keep my body fit and mind calm.

Salman Khan:

Don’t starve yourself and don’t over- exercise. Always maintain a balanced diet and make sure you exercise to keep your body fit all the time. An unfit body is the root of all problems. Physical fitness leads to confidence as well as good health.

Two TV channels fight over Salman Khan

While it’s no surprise that many Bollywood stars have refused offers from television channels in the past, it’s usually because the star doesn’t want to be part of it. Salman Khan must have never imagined that he would have to opt out of a show on one channel because a competing channel didn’t like the idea.

It transpired that Salman was approached by a particular channel to judge a dance reality show, Zara Nachke Dikha , but another channel, which airs his game show Dus Ka Dum , had strong reservations about the move.

A source said, “Salman spoke to the channel that airs Dus Ka Dum but they were unwilling to let Salman be seen on a competing channel. So they politely but firmly told Salman to forget about judging Zara Nachke Dikha . The actor had no choice but to comply.”

Vasudha Jha, a senior official of the channel that will air Zara Nachke Dikha , said, “Yes, we couldn’t get Salman. Though he was pretty excited about the offer, he had to check with the channel that airs Dus Ka Dum . They said they could only allow it if Zara Nachke Dikha goes on air after the next season of Dus Ka Dum winds up. Waiting that long was not possible. Right now, we are in talks with Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan.”

However, Ajit Thakur, an official of the channel that airs Dus Ka Dum , denied that Salman had spoken to them about Zara Nachke Dikha . “But yes, we do have a certain amount of exclusivity on Dus Ka Dum , since it is a very big show,” he said.

Bollywood's well-dressed men

Debonair men of the industry
Our handsome men from the industry can’t afford to have a bad fashion day. Continuous shooting hours and several rounds of publicity leave little time for them to look dashing in their stylish avatars all the time. So, is it easy?

In this age of uber cool and haute couture, Bollywood’s metrosexual men, like their female counterparts, have shown that fashion is meant to be taken seriously. Here we present you the industry’s best-dressed males.

Salman Khan
He still hasn’t said goodbye to long sleeves and snug tees, but Salman Khan’s fashion sense has a distinct royal touch. He looks best in a black suit.

Ranbir Kapoor
The heartthrob likes to keep it classy most of the time. Though young, Ranbir Kapoor looks good in various types of suits. His lean frame is just right for it.

Hrithik Roshan
Once a shy boy, he now has matured to a style icon. Hrithik Roshan, like Shahrukh, likes to try different looks. And why not, when he can carry anything with panache! Best seen, sporting a stole with a suit.

John Abraham
With a great body like him, even if he wears a rag it will look good. John Abraham is not only the most handsome man of the industry but also the most stylish one just like a bollywood superstar Salman Khan. And no one looks better in a semi-formal suit than him.

Shahrukh Khan
Shahrukh Khan knows how to woo his fans and critics. From sporting stubbled look to spiked hair, his quirky fashion sense is admirable. And we can’t even say that he is not into suits. Anyway, he is one of the best-dressed males of Bollywood.

Katrina Kaif and the four Bollywood Khans

Who looks the best?
Let’s just skip the Kapoors and Kumars. If you let gallop the horses of your mind trying to figure out with which Khan Katrina Kaif will look the best on screen, you might scratch your head bald with indecision.

Fact is, the stunner that she is, Katrina has beauty and pizzazz to hold her place opposite any of the Khans in the industry. We’ve already seen her do so with Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan in films. She has rubbed shoulders will Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan as well, though a film with the two is yet to happen.

And not surprisingly, Katrina recently expressed her heartfelt wish to do a film with Aamir and Shahrukh each. If that happens, Katrina will be among the selected few actresses (including Kareena Kapoor) to have worked with the Khan quartet of Bollywood.

Here, you check out her chemistry with each Khan.

Salman Khan
Doubtlessly if anyone can cozy up to Katrina with the smouldering intensity that Akshay does, it’s got to be her boyfriend Salman Khan. The two have acted in many a film, but their onscreen Jodi hasn’t really created the spark.

Saif Ali Khan
The two paired up in Race and did whip up sizzling chemistry in the few intimate scenes. Sadly, Katrina is out of the movie’s sequel.

Shahrukh Khan
Those who think Salman would never let Kat work with SRK, think again.

Aamir Khan
Katrina and Aamir have already posed together for the cover of the Cineblitz magazine in which Aamir posed as Guru Dutt and Katrina as Waheeda Rahman. The two definitely look good together.

At a recent press conference Kaif said, “I would love to work with Aamir and Shah Rukh...They are extremely talented and experienced. I haven't had the opportunity to work with them because I haven't been offered any films with them as yet.”

Well, we can’t wait to see her romancing the two Khans.
